As a seller of firearms, ammunition, and related accessories, we comply with California state law and federal regulations. Below are the restrictions applicable to products shipped or sold to customers in California.
Shipping Restrictions for Firearms
1. General Requirement: All firearms must be shipped to California's licensed Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL).
2. California Firearms Dealers (CFD): FFLs must also be enrolled in the California Department of Justice (CA DOJ) Firearms Dealer Record of Sale (DROS) program.
3. Roster of Handguns: Handguns must be listed on the CA DOJ Roster of Certified Handguns, except for those exempted under law (e.g., private-party transfers or exemptions for law enforcement).
Semi-Automatic Rifle Restrictions
1. Feature-Based Prohibitions: Rifles that meet the definition of “assault weapons” under California Penal Code § 30515 are prohibited. This includes rifles with any of the following:
• Detachable magazines and one or more restricted features (e.g., pistol grip, flash suppressor, folding/telescoping stock).
• Fixed magazines holding more than 10 rounds.
2. Bullet Button Prohibition: Rifles with “bullet buttons” are also considered assault weapons and are restricted.
Exemptions:
• Active law enforcement officers (LEOs) and military personnel with proper documentation may be exempt from certain restrictions.
Semi-Automatic Shotgun Restrictions
1. Restricted Features: Semi-automatic shotguns are prohibited if they include:
• A folding or telescoping stock.
• A pistol grip.
• A detachable magazine.
2. Magazine Limits: Shotguns cannot have a magazine capacity exceeding 10 rounds.
Exemptions:
• Law enforcement officers may possess restricted models with proper credentials.
Handgun Restrictions
1. Roster Compliance: Handguns sold in California must be listed on the CA DOJ Roster of Certified Handguns.
• Exemptions include curio and relic handguns, and those sold to LEOs.
2. Feature Restrictions: Handguns with threaded barrels, forward grips, or other prohibited modifications are prohibited.
Exemptions:
• Sworn law enforcement officers are exempt from roster and microstamping requirements.
Firearm Magazine Restrictions
1. Capacity Limit: Magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds are prohibited.
2. Grandfathered Possession: Residents who owned high-capacity magazines prior to specific legislative bans may retain them but cannot transfer or sell them.
Exemptions:
• Active law enforcement officers and military personnel may purchase and possess high-capacity magazines.
Ammunition Restrictions
1. Ammunition Sales: Must be conducted through licensed California Ammunition Vendors.
2. Shipping Restrictions: Ammunition cannot be shipped directly to individuals; it must be sent to a licensed ammunition vendor for pickup.
3. Prohibited Ammunition:
• Armor-piercing ammunition is illegal.
• Tracer rounds are generally prohibited.
Exemptions:
• LEOs may purchase directly with proper identification.
Pepper Spray Restrictions
1. Maximum Size: Pepper spray containers larger than 2.5 ounces are prohibited.
2. Usage: Only non-felon, adult individuals can purchase and possess pepper spray for personal defense.
Knife Restrictions
1. Switchblades: Knives with a blade length exceeding 2 inches are prohibited.
2. Dirks/Daggers: Possession of concealed dirks or daggers is illegal unless carried openly.
3. Butterfly Knives: Prohibited under state law.
Law Enforcement and Military Exemptions
• Sworn law enforcement officers and military personnel acting in their official capacity may be exempt from certain restrictions, including magazine capacity limits, “assault weapon” definitions, and handgun roster requirements.
• Proper identification and/or authorization letters are required for exemption.
